Catherine "Tina" Giarmo, 87 years, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the Saint Therese at IHM Senior Living Community in Monroe.
Born April 11, 1938, in Cinisi, Sicily, Tina was the daughter of the late Giacomo and Maria (Leone) Cusumano. She moved to Monroe in 1954 from Cinisi and attended St. Joseph Grade School.
On April 25, 1959, Tina married her beloved husband Joseph Giarmo at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe. Sadly, he preceded her in death on September 22, 2020, after 61 years of marriage.
Tina, along with her husband, owned and operated Joe's Pizzeria in Monroe from 1978 to 1987. Tina also worked as a cook at Mercy Hospital for 17 years and at Cantrick School for 5 years. She was also a wonderful homemaker.
A long-time member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Tina enjoyed attending Mass, cooking, especially baking her famous bread, canning, sewing, telling stories, watching football on television, hosting holiday parties, playing cards, and watching her children and grandchildren's sporting events. She also enjoyed vacationing in Florida, especially Tarpon Springs. Most of all, Tina loved spending time with family.
Tina is survived by three loving children: Jack (Tracie) Giarmo of Monroe, Sandy (Todd) Sobieralski of Monroe, and Maria (Pete) Noble of Grand Ledge, a daughter in law, Pamela Giarmo of Byron Center, cherished grandchildren: Joseph Giarmo, Matthew (Ann) Giarmo, Anthony (Katie) Giarmo, Carlie (Greg) Watson, Jacquelyn (Jason) George, Kristin (Jacob) Beste, C.J. (Molly) Wolfenbarger, Christopher Wolfenbarger, Catherine (Andrew) Nadrowski, treasured great grandchildren: Bo, Rocco, Will, Giacomo, Louie, Cosimo, Liam, Madelynn, Caden, Aubree, and Mara with another on the way! and three siblings: Salvatore "Sam" (Maria Rosa) Cusumano of Florida, Frances (Salvatore) Pizzo of Monroe, and Russell (Victoria) Cusumano of Monroe.
In addition to her husband and parents, Tina was preceded in death by her son Gasper and a grandson Nicholas Sobieralski.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 -8 pm at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161, Rosary 6:00 pm. On Saturday, March 21, 2026, she will lie in state at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church from 9:00 am where Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life will begin at 10:00 am. Fr. Kishore B. Battu will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe.
