Catherine Rose Arnold, 82 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio, with her loving family at her side.
She was born on May 23, 1940 and raised on the east side of Monroe by Sicilian immigrants, the late Frank and Sara (Ingegneri) Micari. She experienced a vibrant life with family and friends for over 8 beautiful decades and resided in the same home she was raised in and in which she raised her family. She worked hard with values and traditions instilled by her parents which she passed on to her children and grandchildren.
Although she was an only child, she had a vast extended and adopted family. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School and was a proud 1958 graduate of St. Mary Academy.
She married the love of her life, Dennis L. Arnold, at St. Joseph's Church on November 19, 1966. She enjoyed almost 35 years of marriage until Denny's untimely passing on Christmas Eve, 2000. She was a master of Sicilian cooking and spent days preparing for holiday dinners to be perfect. She loved planning and hosting celebrations and keeping her door open to company. She sacrificed and provided for her family for years and was selfless in helping others with anything.
She advanced her children in Catholic schooling and faith and was an active supporter of school and church fundraising events. She was a devout Catholic and contributed to her Church, and many Catholic charities and organizations. She had been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church until its closing, and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Her smile, beauty and passion radiated to everyone who knew her. She beamed with pride for her children and grandchildren and was tireless in helping them to the end. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family.
In the workforce, she maintained accounts for Monroe Paper Products and Firestone, owned and operated the Black & White Taxi Cab Co., and was the proud owner of Graphic Arts Studio in stationary and events invitations sales.
Catherine is survived by three loving children: The Honorable Frank L. Arnold of Monroe, Jacqueline A. Shulick of Livonia, and Amy E. Arnold of Monroe, and four cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth J. (Ryan) Quinn, Mitchell J. Layhew, Alexandra Rose Shulick, and Katelin A. Shulick. She also leaves behind her beloved shih-poo, Sophie.
