Carol M. Kilgus, age 82 of Monroe, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024 in her home.
Born December 19, 1941 in Swanton, OH, Carol was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Bower) Zimmerman. She graduated from Swanton High School in 1960 and attended Davis Business College.
On September 9, 1961, Carol married Donald A. Kilgus in Swanton, and together they raised two children in Monroe.
For 12 years, Carol was a Rural-route delivery person for the Monroe Evening News and later was employed by Monroe Public Schools as a school bus driver for 32 years before retiring.
Carol was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Red Hat Society. She was an avid league bowler but what captured her heart most were all the cherished family gatherings.
Carol is survived by her husband Don; son, Jeffrey (Donna 1.) Kilgus of Erie, MI; daughter, Donna Jean 2. (Joseph) Golema, Jr. of Wyandotte, MI; brother, Harry (Cheryl) Zimmerman of Delta, OH; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jim Smith; and sister-in-law, Pam Zimmerman.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Zimmerman; sister, Luann Smith; grandson, Alan Stevens; and niece, Tina Smith.
Family and friends may visit from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12th at Bacarella Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Greg Sitzman, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In memory of Carol, the family requests that any monetary acts of kindness be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers. They would also like to acknowledge and thank Chrisi of the Ohians for the wonderful loving care given to Carol during her illness.
