Burlin Worley, age 91, of Monroe, passed away Friday, October 25, 2024 at Medilodge of Monroe.
Burlin was born July 28, 1933 in Marshall, NC, he was the son of Vestal and Graten (Lumsford) Worley. He married Delores Ann Cardwell September 7, 1952 at Central Baptist Church, Fountain City, TN.
He serviced his country in the US Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955.
Burlin, Delores and their family came to Monroe in 1964. He went to work for Ford Motor Company, where he was a Journeyman Millwright for many years before his retirement in 1994.
Burlin was a man of great faith, he was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church and enjoyed reading the Bible.
He also enjoyed gardening and bird watching but what was most special to him was the time he spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Delores; three children, John (Barbara) Worley of Monroe, Gerald (Laura) Worley of Monroe and Alicia (Ed) Haynes of Port St. Lucie, FL; a sister, Shelia (Alan) Hartman of Winston Salem, NC; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Adam, Aaron, Morgan, Nicholas, Cody and Tiffany and thirteen great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Julie; two brothers, Nolan and Earlin.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, with funeral services at 5 p.m., after services visitation will continue until 8 p.m. A committal service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Nate Click, pastor of Heritage Baptist Church, will officiate both services.
