Bonnie Jo Thompson, age 82 of Monroe, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born April 22, 1943 in Toledo, OH, Bonnie was the daughter of the late Ralph and Ruth (Cooley) Thompson. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1961 and earned an associate degree from Monroe County Community College.
Bonnie had a long career at Mercy Memorial Hospital. She retired after 50 years as a benefits coordinator in the Human Resource Dept. in 2011.
Bonnie was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and Michigan State University sports.
Bonnie is survived by a nephew, David (Jessica) Thompson of LaSalle, MI; two nieces, Sara Thompson of Troy, MI and Martha Thompson of Lansing, MI; sisters-in-law, Marta Thompson of Temperance, MI and Bonnie A. Thompson of Monroe, MI; great-niece, Elizabeth Thompson, and great-nephew, William Thompson, both of LaSalle, MI.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by two brothers, Ron and Stephen Thompson; nephew, Douglas Thompson; and niece, Emily Thompson.
Family and friends may visit from 3 p.m. until funeral service at 7 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 10th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Cremation will follow with interment at Woodland Cemetery at a later date.
