Bobbie Ruth Owens - Tays, 86 years, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Medilodge of Monroe.
Born March 25, 1930 in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Bobbie was the daughter of the late Carl P. and Myrtle Onlee (Bussell) Manis. Bobbie attended school in Middlesboro and was a 1947 graduate of Middlesboro High School.
On June 16, 1947 Bobbie married James H. Owens in Pineville, KY. Sadly, he preceded her in death on May 5, 1976. On January 23, 1984, Bobbie married Roy O. Tays in Erie, MI. He too preceded her death on February 2, 1991.
Bobbie was employed by Kmart in Monroe for 20 years, from which she retired. She was also a wonderful homemaker.
Bobbie was a member of Monroe Apostolic Church, which is now Grace Point Church and the NRA. Bobbie enjoyed collecting a variety of items. Most of all Bobbie enjoyed family, especially her grandchildren.
Bobbie is survived by two loving children: Randal L. Owens of Newport and Richard D. (Linda) Owens of Monroe, 17 cherished grandchildren, 24 treasured great grandchildren, 4 precious great great grandchildren and a sister in law: Connie Manis of Holly, MI. In addition to her parents and husbands, Bobbie was preceded in death by three sons: James Jr., Larry Sr. and Gary L. Owens, a grandson: Jeffrey Owens and a brother: Carl Manis.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-7 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161, where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Sam McCormick, Associate Pastor of Monroe Outreach, will officiate. Interment will follow at Historic Woodland Cemetery in Monroe.
