Betty L. Younglove, 84 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Wellspring Lutheran Services in Monroe.
Born October 31, 1940, in Monroe, Betty was the daughter of the late Hilda (Geiman Au) Betker and Palmer F. Au and her late stepfather, Henry Betker. Betty was a 1958 graduate of Airport High School.
On January 13, 1962, Betty married her beloved husband, Thomas E. Younglove, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maybee. Fr. Casey was the celebrant. Sadly, Tom preceded her in death on April 14, 2020, after 58 years of marriage.
Baptized and Confirmed in the Lutheran faith, Betty converted to Catholicism in 1961 and was a member of Divine Grace Parish (former St. Joseph) in Maybee. She was active in the church and was a member of the Christian Mothers Altar Society and Sacred Heart Guild. She also assisted at the church festival.
As a homemaker, Betty enjoyed gardening and canning. Betty also enjoyed traveling and spending the winter months at her home in Florida. Her hobbies included water aerobics, of which she was an instructor, Bingo, cards, board games, crafts, crocheting and woodworking. Betty especially loved the time she spent with family in Michigan and friends who were like family in Florida.
Betty is survived by three loving children: Connie (Joseph) Steinman, Robyn (Jeffery) Bonifacio, and Terry (Sarah) Younglove, and a son-in-law Joseph Olson; nine cherished grandchildren: Ryan (Lisa) Olson, Jenna Olson, Julia Olson, Olivia (Cameron) Deems, Andrew (Bekki) Steinman, Victoria Bonifacio, Brittany Bonifacio, Jordan Younglove, and Hope Younglove; six treasured great grandchildren: Jackson Hamer, Theodore and Molly Deems, and Benedict, Archibald, and Lawrence Steinman; and a sister-in-law, Mary Au.
In addition to her parents, stepfather and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Kim Olson, grandson, Nick Bonifacio, and brother, Gene Au.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 2 – 8 pm, Rosary at 6:00 pm, at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161. On Saturday, July 26, 2025, she will lie in state at Divine Grace Parish, in Maybee, Michigan beginning at 10:00 am with Mass of the Resurrection celebrating Betty's life at 11:00 am. Fr. Mike Woroniewicz, pastor of the church, will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Maybee.
