Betty Lou Voggenreiter, age 88, of Monroe, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022 in her home surrounded by family.
Betty was born April 28, 1934 in Monroe, she was the daughter of Samuel and Edith (Miller) Shock. She married Michael E. Voggenreiter September 17, 1955 in Monroe; he preceded her in death March 20, 2002.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and had been active in the Ladies Aide Society.
She worked many jobs before her retirement including, the cafeteria at Ford Motor Plant, a receptionist for a doctor and catering with Salow's Catering.
Betty was a volunteer at the Thrift Shop Association. She enjoyed crafting, decorating for holidays, shopping and spending time with her family.
She is survived by four children, Cathy (Pete) Portillo of Monroe, Michele (Pat) Wallace of Flat Rock, Michael K. (Elena) Voggenreiter of Monroe and David A. Voggenreiter of Monroe; a sister, Deborah Shock; six grandchildren, Shawn, Matthew, Mikayla and David Voggenreiter, Kevin Clock and Melissa (Rob) Siewert; three great grandchildren Bentley, Brielle and Aubrey Siewert.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Cheryl; granddaughter Amy Clock; seven siblings, Richard Shock, Wilford Shock, Robert Shock, Beulah Edwards, Harold Shock, Earl Shock and Shirley Rafko.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 8, 2022 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe. She will lie instate 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with funeral services at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.
The family would like to especially thank the nurses and staff of ProMedica Hospice for the care they provided to their mom and the support given to the whole family.
