Betty R. (Pendleton) Ayers age 73 of Monroe, MI. passed away Friday, September 22, 2006 at 12:59 PM in Mercy Memorial Hospital where she had been for 12 days. Betty had been in poor health for 11 months. Betty was born October 17, 1932 in Shawnee, TN. the daughter of the late Ezra and Flossie (Bussell) Pendleton. Betty came to Monroe as a child with her family. On February 12, 1949 Betty married Herman Ayers in Middlesboro, KY. Sadly he passed away on June 4, 1985. Betty worked as a machine operator for Sharon Manufacturing Co. in Temperance, MI. for 23 years retiring in 1989. Betty was instrumental in establishing The Monroe Alano Club in 1990 where she served as treasurer for 11 years. In 2004 Betty was presented with the first Monroe Alano Club lifetime membership award. Betty also enjoyed crocheting. Betty is survived by 3 loving children; Douglas H Ayers, Daniel A. Ayers and Deborah J. (Jerry) Fortner all of Monroe, MI. 2 sisters; Delores (John) Taylor and Phyllis (David) Turner both of Marion, IN. 6 cherished grandchildren and 3 cherished great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents Betty was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Mary Chumley and Audrey Vancena, and a daughter in law Gayla Ayers on March 5, 2006. Visitation for Betty will be held on Monday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Kenny Spain associate pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
