Bertha E. "Sis" Robinson, 79 years, a life long resident of Monroe, MI, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 4:34 PM in Mercy Memorial Hospital. Sis had been in declining health for the past year. Sis was born May 10, 1930 in Monroe the daughter of the late Edgar and Elizabeth (Galvin) Anteau. On August 20, 1949 in Angola, IN Sis married her beloved husband William K. Robinson. Sadly he preceded her in death on October 12, 1989. Sis was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening, water color painting and writing poetry. At one time Sis worked as an operator for Michigan Bell and as a waitress at Flag's Restaurant, which later became Biff's. Sis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Frenchtown Senior Citizens. Sis was very proud that in 1991 she received her GED from Monroe Public Schools. Most of all Sis loved her family. Sis is survived by 4 loving daughters; Kristine A. (John) Coker of Monroe, Marsha S. (Paul) Wortman of Toledo, OH, Barbara E. Doede of Spokane, WA, and Lisa K. (Francis) Shock of Monroe, 1 sister Josephine Nickles of Tucson, AZ, 6 cherished grandchildren; William, Heather, Erik, Chad, Alyson and Ryan, and 5 treasured great grandchildren; Laura, Lauren, Tyler, Lila and Brady William. In addition to her husband and parents, Sis was preceded in death by 4 brothers and a sister. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-6 PM and Monday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe where a Scripture Service will be held on Monday at 5:00 PM. On Tuesday, June 2, 2009 she will lie in state at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 11:00 AM. Fr. William Fisher pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe.
