Bernice A. "Bee" Liedel, age 96 of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Wellspring Lutheran Home.
Born February 6, 1928 in Monroe, Bee was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Agatha (Navarre) Poupard. She graduated from St. Mary Academy in 1946 and soon after married Norman J. Liedel on July 27th at St. Mary Catholic Church. Together they raised four children. Norm preceded Bee in death on September 30, 2020.
Bee had a long career as a bookkeeper/Secretary at Monroe Catholic Central High School for 39 years. She was a member of St. Mary Church and VFW Post 1138 Auxiliary.
Bee was an avid Detroit Tigers Baseball fan and bowler, serving as Secretary for many years of the Ladies Monroe Sport Center League. Bee and Norm enjoyed visiting Michigan's many lighthouses and antiquing. Bee devoted a major part of her life researching the genealogy of the Liedel, Poupard, and Navarre family ancestry. She also liked watching golf and tending to her flower garden.
Bee is survived by a son, Gerald (Chris) Liedel of Florida; daughter, Carolyn Spillson of Monroe; sister, Helen Friday of White Lake, MI; brother, Benjamin Poupard, Jr. of South Carolina; four grandchildren; Nathan (Ali) Berent-Spillson, Alane (Hovig) Ounjian, Jamie (Tim) Norris, and Traci Peterson; seven great-grandchildren: Jason, Max, Zeke, Ara, Mila, Serj, and Leah.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bee was preceded by two sons, Eric and Kevin Liedel.
Family and friends may visit from 1 p.m. until time of memorial service at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 25th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Rev. Fr. David Burgard, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church will officiate. Burial of Bee's cremated remains will be privately attended at St. Joseph Cemetery.
The family would prefer memorial donations be made to St. Mary Church or the IHM Motherhouse.
