Obituary

Bernadine Ann Iott, age 99 of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born June 8, 1926 in Maybee, MI, Bernadine was the daughter of the late John and Stella (Liedel) Leibold. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School in Maybee and graduated from Monroe High School in 1944.
Bernadine was employed by Alcoa Aluminum Company from 1944-1946 and then by JC Penney from 1946 until she married Hubert F. Iott. They were wed on November 11, 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maybee. Together they raised nine children. Hubert preceded Bernadine in death on November 18, 2014.
Bernadine was an active member of Divine Grace Parish in Maybee. She formerly served as Secretary of its Christian Mother's Guild and Treasurer of the Little Flower Guild. She most recently had been attending St Anne's Parish Catholic Church and St. Mary Catholic Church in Monroe prior to residing at Brookdale Senior Living. She was a devoted "domestic engineer" who enjoyed exercising at the YMCA and attending family birthday parties.
Bernadine is survived by her children: Ron (Kathy) Iott of Ida, MI, Linda Songalewski of Monroe, Paul (Donna) Iott of Monroe, Barb (Rob) Eppler of Newport, MI, Marvin (Billie Jean) Iott of Maybee, MI, Doug (Patti) Iott of Findlay, OH, and Rick Iott of Groveland, FL; daughter-in-law, Pennie Iott (Tom Clark) of Monroe; 26 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bernadine was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna (John) Moore; son, Philip Iott, son-in-law, John Moore, daughter-in-law, Alecia Iott, grandson, Dustin Iott, step granddaughter, Angela Nicole Reinholt; three sisters, Lois (Harry) Doederlein, Rosemary (Leo) Zawacki, and Millie (Leo) Hoffman; brother, John (Carole) Leibold, Jr., and infant brother, Lloyd.
Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7th at Bacarella Funeral Home where the Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Bernadine will lie in state at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Rev. Fr. David Burgard and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Michael Anagbogu. Bernadine will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Joseph Cemetery, Maybee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Paul of the Cross Retreat Center (23333 Schoolcraft Rd., Detroit, MI 48223).
Bernadine's family would like to thank the staff of ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital and especially those at Brookdale Senior Living for the excellent care of their beloved mother for the past 2 ½ years.
