Benito Montague, 54, passed away peacefully April 30, 2009 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. He had been in poor health for 3 years. Benito was born March 28, 1955 in Monroe, MI to Anna Olivia Bumpas and the late Lawrence Montague Sr. He attended Monroe High School and Huron Valley Welding Tech School. He was employed by Ford Motor Company for 20 years until taking a medical retirement in 2008. He married Nancy Montri on July 6, 1999 and to that union was born three beautiful children. Mackenzie, Derrick and Monique. Benito loved tinkering with cars. He enjoyed being with family and friends, loved singing to the Motown Temptations and took great pleasure in cooking. To much of his family's dismay, he has taken with him the secret recipe to the worlds best pot of collard greens. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by his devoted wife; his loving mother; seven children: Kevin Wyche of Detroit, Tonya (Anthony) Grant, Calinda (Jairus) Chomas of Detroit, Shamar Isaac, and Mackenzie, Derrick Benito and Monique Montri, five brothers: Lawrence Montague Jr., Ab (Jacqueline) Montague, Larry Montague, Timothy Montague, and Fletcher Montague, two sisters: Priscilla Vinson and Patricia (Henry) Wade of Inkster; nine grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Adrianna McDonald, his father, a sister Belinda Jean Ferguson and his grandmother Mary Patterson. Visiting hours will be from 1 to 8 PM with family hour from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe, where funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, May 7, 2009. Pastor Alfred Overstreet of Alfred Overstreet Evangelistic Ministries of Monroe will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
