Benita E. Bressler, age 77 of Ida, MI, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025 in her home.
Born May 1, 1948 in Monroe, Benita was the daughter of the late Edmond and Mamie (Smith) Moyers. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1966 and married Dean L. Bressler a couple months later on August 6th. Together they raised two children. Sadly, he recently passed just two months ago on June 20th.
A homemaker for much of her life, Benita was previously employed by Vince's Drive-In in Monroe, Blue Streak Snack shop in Ida, and Diane's Restaurant in Ida.
Benita followed online services of Elkton Church of the Nazarene in Elkton, MD where her brother is the current pastor. She previously volunteered for the PTO at Manor School when her grandchildren were enrolled there. She was an avid bird watcher and collector of salt and pepper shakers. She had a love for cats but nothing was more special than her grandkids.
Benita is survived by her children, Deanna (William) Sypula of Novi, MI and Dean (Brenda) Bressler, Jr. of Monroe; two siblings, Ruth Ann Popejoy of Smyrna, TN and Rev. James (Pennie) Moyers of Elkton, MD; and her 5 beloved grandchildren: Erin Bressler, Erika Bressler, Ewa Sypula, Klaudia Sypula, and Nataniel Sypula.
In addition to her parents and husband, Benita was preceded in death by two sisters, Sylvia Moyers and Vicki Kohler, and brother-in-law, Gerald Kohler.
Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26th at Bacarella Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Benita's brother, Rev. James Moyers will officiate. Cremation will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park where she and her husband Dean will be buried at a later date.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Humane Society of Monroe County or to a charity of the donor's choice.
