Barbara Lee Spare, 66 years, of Monroe, MI passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 at 10:36 AM in Mercy Memorial Hospital where she had been for the last 3 weeks. Barbara had been in poor health for several years. Barbara was born July 24, 1941 in Rutledge, TN the daughter of the late E. Clyde and Bobbie (Love) McDaniel. Barbara and her family moved to Monroe when she was an infant. Barbara attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1959 graduate of Monroe High School. Barbara worked as a billing clerk for Consolidated Packaging for many years. After Consolidated closed Barbara went on to work as a billing clerk for Detroit Stoker until her retirement in 2003. Barbara enjoyed ceramics and more than anything else enjoyed her children, grandchildren and her family. Barbara is survived by her beloved children; David A. (Ann) Spare of Culleoka, TN and Bryon T. (Krys) Spare of Monroe, her cherished grandchildren; David C., Danielle M. and Kyle H. Spare and Amanda Roberts, 2 sisters; L. Jean (Eugene) Keck of Monroe, and L. Florence (Jack) Umfress of South Branch, MI, a brother in law George Williams of Monroe, and a sister in law Barbara McDaniel of Monroe. In addition to her parents Barbara was preceded in death by 4 sisters; Ruby Pope, Sylvia Williams, Faye Kurtz and Sue Hodge, and 2 brothers; Wayne and Dean McDaniel. Visitation for Barbara will be held on Wednesday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Roy Southerland Pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association or the American Diabetes Association.
