Barbara Kathryn Sonoras, age 80 of Monroe, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, February 5, 2022 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born September 11, 1941 in Monroe, Barbara was the daughter of the late Herbert and Frances (Kronsperger) Osgood. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1959 and married Patrick J. Sonoras on October 21, 1961 at St. Michael Catholic Church.
Barb worked in the banking industry in Monroe as a teller for many years. She began her career as an employee of People's Federal Saving and Loan. She retired 22 years later when the bank was known as Standard Federal.
Barb was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and its Altar Society. She was fond of reading, baking, gardening, cooking and doing jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed time spent with her family, especially league bowling with her sisters, Eydie and Ethel.
Barb is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Pat Sonoras; her beloved children, Dianna Sonoras and Julie Haddock, both of Bowling Green, OH, Scott (Theresa) Sonoras of Newport, MI, and Kurt (Lisa Janetski) Sonoras of Midland, MI; her treasured grandchildren: Alex Haddock, Nathan Sonoras, Amanda Sonoras, Zachary Sonoras, Megan Sonoras, Karmon Catacosinos, and Nolen Catacosinos.; and her three dear siblings, John "Jack" Osgood, Chuck (Kay) Osgood, and Phyllis Simon, all of Monroe.
In addition to her parents, Barb was also preceded in death by four siblings, Ethel Fanning, Pat Ferguson, Russ Osgood, and most recently, Mary "Eydie" Dushane.
Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10th at Bacarella Funeral Home where a Scripture Service will be held at 6 p.m. Barb will lie in state at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by the church pastor, Rev. Fr. Kishore Battu followed by interment at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests supporting St. Michael Church or its Catholic Christian Women's group, previously known as the Altar Society.
