Barbara J. Padot-Bates, 72, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023 at IHM Senior Living Community.
Barbara was born June 26, 1951 in Monroe, she was the daughter of Charles E. and Zola M. (Stratton) Hotchkiss. She married David H. Padot July 31, 1970 at St. Mary's Catholic Church Monroe, he preceded her in death February 25, 1993. She then married Edward Bates June 1, 2001 and he preceded her in death August 22, 2009.
She was a 1969 graduate of St. Mary Academy and lifetime member of St. Mary's Church, where she also taught religious education for 10 years.
Barbara worked for Monroe Public Schools for 10 years and was also the office manager for Dr. George Spader DDS for 8 years.
She loved spending time with her kids and grandchildren and attending their sporting events. She loved dogs and since she didn't have her own dog, she enjoyed dog sitting and visiting her neighbor's dog. She was an avid gardener and loved to shop.
Barbara is survived by two sons, David C. (Andrea) Padot of Saline and their children, Miles D. Padot and Celia G. Padot; Timothy A. (Sheli) Padot of Stephens City, VA and their children, Hali L. (Alex) Mallo, McKenzie M. Padot and Chase J. Padot; great grandson, Theodore Mallo and a sister, Susan K. Webb of Monroe.
In addition to her two husbands, she is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Janet M. Hotchkiss and Carol A. Kranz; two brothers-in-law, Tom Webb and Daniel Kranz and a nephew, Robert Kranz.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 10 am until Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. a St. Mary's Church. Rev. David Burgard will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Alzheimer's Association.
