Barbara A. Meyer, age 83 of Monroe, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025 in her home.
Born April 21, 1942 in Monroe, Barb was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Dorothy (Kohler) Pfund. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1960 and attended Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1964. She taught elementary school children at Zion Lutheran School until it was time to raise her own kids.
On June 19, 1971, Barb married Ronald W. Meyer at Zion Lutheran Church. Together they raised five children. Sadly, he passed on May 9, 2024.
Barb was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was active in its Ladies Aide group and formerly volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. She was a HUGE fan of the Detroit Tigers and especially enjoyed attending any sporting event that involved her children or grandchildren.
Barb is survived by her children: Randy (Melinda) Meyer, Terry (Fran) Meyer, Denise (Bobby) Anderson, and Ron (Jackie) Meyer; 3 siblings: Mary Ellen (Gary) Gerweck, Jenise (Marvin) Miller, and Lloyd (Roxanne) Pfund; 9 grandchildren: Heather, Kortney, Josh, Kalin, Amanda, Alyssa, Nicolas, Zachary, and Nolan; and 13 great-grandchildren: Isla, Nia, Colton, Kalvin, Khloe, Sophia, Declan, Addison, Holden, Boyd, Blair, Harper, and Jocelyn. Also, Barb is survived by a special group of neighborhood friends known as the "Retired Strasburg Ladies" who were like family to her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Barb was preceded in death by a son, Dale Meyer, and two sisters, Dolores Bathgate and Janice Borrusch.
Family and friends may visit from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Barb will lie in state at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church where services will begin at 11 a.m. The church pastor, Rev. Mark Witte will officiate followed by burial at St. Paul's Cemetery.
