Barbara Jean Kroh, 81 years, of LaSalle, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 28, 2025 in her home.
Born June 10, 1943 in Dearborn, Barb was the daughter of the late Blake T. and Mildred N. (Remington) Childs. She was a 1961 graduate of Monroe High School. She went on to study at Riverside Hospital, in Toledo and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse.
On November 5, 1964 Barb married the love of her life, Herbert C. Kroh at Christ Lutheran Church in Monroe.
Barb worked as a registered nurse for Mercy Hospital in Monroe, Dr. Charles Black, MD, and for Visiting Angel's where she cared for Veterans of the United States Armed Forces. She retired in 2019.
Barb was a woman of great faith and a true patriot. She enjoyed attending and Bible study at both Redeemer Fellowship Church and North Monroe Street Church of God. She enjoyed picture puzzles, Sudoku, and baking, where her specialty was carrot cake. Barb was also a very giving person who volunteered wherever and whenever needed. She was an advocate and volunteer for Gift of Life. Most of all Barb loved time spent with family.
Barb is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Herb, two loving daughters: Darlene L. (Jason) Spade of New Boston and Elizabeth L. (Michael) McGinnis of Ortonville, nine cherished grandchildren: Sierra Horstmann, Alaina, Ethan, and Rachel Spade, Bethany (Mike) Bruni, Alyson McGinnis, Carter Hegg, and Evan, and Amelia McGinnis, and six treasured great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia L. Kroh, her stepfather, Walt DeYoung, and four siblings.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3 – 7 pm at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161, where funeral services celebrating Barb's life will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 11:00 am. Rev. John Piippo, co-pastor of Redeemer Fellowship Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
