Obituary

Barbara Marie Champagne, 77, of Monroe, passed away at the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, on May 13, 2013.  She had been in declining health for a couple years, and had entered the hospital on May.
She was born February 11, 1936 in Wendel, PA to Lawrence and Vendetta (Rohr) Grazel.  She was a graduate of Sewickley High School in Pennsylvania.  She moved to Monroe in the late 1960's from Detroit.  Barbara was employed through the Teamsters Union as a billing clerk at Bondy Transfer, Detroit, where she retired from in the early 1980's, after many years.
Barbara was a member of the Moose Lodge #884, Monroe, a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, #2254, Monroe, and she enjoyed playing pool.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her 4 daughters, Rae Ann Dusseau of Hartland, Rhonda (James) Slover of Toledo, Rene (John) Kurtz of Monroe, and Rochelle Champagne of Erie; a brother, Lawrence K. Grazel of Wendel, PA; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Sadly, her parents, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Grazel, preceded her in death.
At Barbara's request, cremation was held, and a memorial service to honor her life will be held at 2 PM, on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Sanctuary at the Marion Place, 408 W. Front St.  Monroe, MI, 48161.  The family will greet friends from 1:30 PM until the service.  Rev. Joyce E. Wallace of Hardy United Methodist Church, Oceola, MI will officiate. The Bacarella Funeral Home, Monroe, was privileged to have assisted the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her name may be given to the Marion Place Flower Fund.
