Obituary

Austin Lloyd "Judge" Beason, age 97, of Monroe, went home to be with the Lord with his loving daughter at his side at 5:20 p.m. on September 6, 2022 at MediLodge of Monroe. He had been in declining health for seven years.
Born December 7, 1924 in New Tazewell, Tennessee, he was the son of the late William Jeff and Effie Mary (Mayes) Beason. Judge married the late Rachel Fontella (Heath) Butler in Tazewell shortly before moving to Monroe in 1944. He worked as the Turbine Operator and Foreman for River Raisin Paper Company, Union Camp, Jefferson Smurfit for forty-six years, retiring in 1990. As a young man, Judge played basketball for Best Jewelers, which he was proud to have won the City League Championship. Lloyd was an avid small game hunter, beekeeper and gardener, spending many hours chasing rabbits and tending to his bees, fruit trees and vegetable garden. Austin was a simple man, whose primary joy in life was spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
To cherish his memory, Lloyd leaves his daughter, Trena K. Miller of Monroe; three grandchildren: Lee A. Sharpe of Monroe, David L. (Tammy) Sharpe of Newport, and Justin D. (Katelyn) Miller; eight great-grandchildren: Tiffany Sonnichsen of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Christopher (Sarah) Sharpe of Monroe, Taylor Crawford of Monroe, Craig (Sophia) Sharpe of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, Macee (Denver) McLaughlin of Huston, Texas, Amanda (Bryce) Althouse of Monroe, Austin Miller of Dundee, and Brock Miller of Dundee; nine great-great-grandchildren: Gabriel Sharpe, Bailee Sharpe, Wyatt Crawford, Rowan McLaughlin, Craig Sharpe Junior, Jude Crawford, Elliot Althouse, Camden McLaughlin, and Noah McLaughlin; and longtime companion, Anna Owens of LaFollette, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Paris Roy, J.D., Jack, and Ralph Beason; two sisters, Dorothy Collins and Elsie Minton; and one son-in-law, David Miller.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2022 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Road, Monroe, MI 48162. He will lie in state Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until services celebrating his life begin at 11 a.m. Rev. Roy Southerland will officiate. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, MI.
