Aurelio "Art" Taormina, 66 years, of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Medilodge of Monroe.
Born January 24, 1955 in Borgetto, Sicily, Aurelio was the son of the late Giovanni and Marianna (Vitale) Taormina. Aurelio was baptized and confirmed in Borgetto and came to the United States in July of 1966. He attended Monroe County ISD.
Aurelio was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, bicycling, and playing sports, he especially excelled at basketball. He also enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of professional wrestling, the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Tigers. Most of all Aurelio loved time spent with family.
Aurelio is survived by six loving siblings: Sam Taormina, Maria (Luigi) (Afonica) Scotti, Joseph (Tina) Taormina, Gino (Concetta) Taormina, Severino (Esther) Taormina, and Savina T. (Bino) DeLuca, all of Monroe, and many cherished nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 pm at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161, where at 6:30 pm the family will share special memories of Aurelio followed the Rosary at 7:00 pm.
On Friday, August 27, 2021 Aurelio will lie in state at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church from 9:00 am until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating his life at 10:00 am. Private interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery.
