Audrey L. (Scott) Gilbert was born on December 24, 1959 in Canton, Ohio to Max and Anita (Acerbi) Scott. As a child, she enjoyed horseback riding, was a member of 4-H, church youth group, and loved playing softball. She has been a member of Stewart Road Church of God since 1977, where she met her lifelong love, Keith Gilbert. They were married on May 3, 1980.
Audrey was known for her kindness and compassion, and always had a love for children and animals. She wanted nothing more than to be a mother, and despite the doctor's report that she would never conceive, the Lord blessed her with two children, Ryan and Jodi. She spent her career working as a veterinary technician for over 40 years with Mason Veterinary Clinic and Country Creek Animal Hospital, which she loved dearly. She served in the children's ministry at her church, and was a first grade Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. She will be remembered for her homemade meals, baking delicious desserts, and hosting holiday gatherings with family. She enjoyed long outdoor walks, gardening her flowers, sipping on hot tea, watching the Detroit Tigers, and shopping for "deals and steals." Her favorite pastime was watching her grandchildren play sports, and cheering on all of the Ida Bluestreak players.
Audrey loved serving the Lord, and was known for her servant's heart. She lived by Colossians 3:23, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for man." She displayed kindness, love, grace, and compassion to all. She could always be found helping someone in need with meals, visitation, and words of encouragement. She had an undeniable gift of making others feel cherished, comfortable, loved, and celebrated.
Audrey is survived by her father Max (Joanne) Scott, her mother-in-law Eula Gilbert, her loving husband of 44 years, Keith Gilbert; a brother M. Jeffrey (Mary) Scott, a sister Sheryl (Thomas) Thacker; a sister-in-law Julie Gilbert; two children Ryan Gilbert and Jodi (Jordan) Lehr; three grandchildren Brody, Emmri, and Easton Lehr; seven nieces and nephews Tony Scott, Jason Scott, Stacy (Matthew) Sitarski, Jayme Thacker, Tara McBride, Scott Thacker, Jennifer Laslo; great-nieces and nephews Gage Daniels, Sawyer and Fiona Scott, Luke and Oliver Sitarski, Sr. Airman Nathan Thacker, Max, Makenna, and Mason McBride, and one great-great nephew Greyson Daniels.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Anita Scott and her father-in-law Thomas Gilbert.
