Obituary

Arvil Lee Braden, 70, of Monroe, passed away at 5:35 AM, Sunday, February 3, 2008 in the VA Medical Center, Ann Arbor. He had been in poor health since August 2007 and seriously ill since entering the hospital 8 days ago. He was born August 25, 1937 in Claiborne County TN, to Conrad P. and Carrie Ellen (Williamson) Braden. He came to Monroe as a child. He attended Monroe Public Schools and served his country in the US Army from 1957 – 1961, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and a Sharpshooter Pistol Award. State Line Nursery and Landscape, Temperance, MI employed Arvil as a landscaper for 28 years until his retirement in 2007. He especially enjoyed trips to the Motor City Casino, listening to music and playing the guitar, vegetable gardening, and auto mechanics. Survivors include his loving mother, Carrie E. of Monroe, a son, Brian W. (Julia) of Monroe, daughters, Vickie Bomia of Monroe and Patty (Thomas) Morelli of Toledo, 7 grandchildren, brothers, Ron (Pat) of Temperance, Johnny C., Vernon P. (Sharon), and Norman D. (Lori) all of Monroe, and Marvin H. (Rita) of Loraine, OH, sisters, Lavana (Robert) D'Arpini, Anita Braden, and Aileen Braden all of Monroe, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Sadly, his father, October 13, 1972, and brother, Otis L, August 2001, preceded him in death. Friends may call Tuesday at the Bacarella Funeral Home from 2-8 PM. He will lie in state Wednesday in the Mausoleum at Roselawn Memorial Park from 11:30 AM until military services conducted by the VFW Post # 1138, Monroe at 12 PM. Memorial gifts in his name may be given to the Veteran's Association, Ann Arbor.
