Arthur Owens, 91 years of Dundee, MI. passed away Thursday, November 09, 2006 at 10:05 AM in his home. Arthur had been in poor health for 2 years. Arthur was born January 21, 1915 in Harrogate, TN. the son of the late Jeff and Pearlie (Hatfield) Owens. On May 15, 1937 Arthur married Dorsia Sandefur in Tazewell, TN. They moved to Monroe in 1944 from TN. Arthur worked as a Beater Operator for Time Container in Monroe for 28 years, retiring in 1983. A member of Evergreen Acres Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe since 1960, Arthur served as a Deacon and sang in the church quartet. Arthur enjoyed gardening and farming. Arthur is survived by his beloved wife Dorsia, 4 loving children; Hesper (Margaret) Owens of Port Huron, MI., Carl L. (Linda A.) Owens of Dundee, MI., Kathleen Smith of Knoxville, TN and Patsy J. (John) Lawson of Dundee, MI. 6 cherished grandchildren and 10 cherished great grandchildren. In addition to his parents Arthur was preceded in death by his stepfather Ed Cosby, his son in law Conley Smith, 2 half sisters and 1 half brother. Visitation for Arthur will be held from 5-8 PM Saturday and 1-8 PM Sunday at the Bacarella Funeral Home where funeral services celebrating his life will be held Monday, November 13, 2006 at 11:00 AM. The Rev, John Bullard Jr. associate pastor of Grape Missionary Baptist Church and the Rev. Jacob Clawson will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
