Arnold Rose, 75, of Monroe, passed away at 10:30 PM, on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Oakwood Southshore Medical Center, Trenton, surrounded by his loving family. He had been in the hospital since January 11th. He was born January 8, 1935 in Whitley County, KY to Arthur and Linva Rose. He came to Monroe with his family in 1943. Arnold served his country in the US Army from 1952-1955, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. While in the service he met and married his wife, Margot L. Bauer, on April 16, 1955, in Bad Mergentheim, Germany. Upon his Honorable discharge they came back to Monroe to happily share their lives together for almost 55 years. He worked as a Millwright at Consolidated Packaging; North side Plant for 20 years, before going to work as a mechanic at Detroit Edison for 19 years. He retired in January 1997. An avid golfer, he enjoyed playing at many local courses with his friends, as well as with Margot. A family man, he always enjoyed time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also was a graduate of Jefferson High School. He leaves to mourn, his loving wife, cherished children, Harold M. (Krystal) Rose of Newport, Felecia Wylie of Monroe, Sherry (Michael) Steenwyk of Hudsonville, MI, and Pamela Sharpe of Monroe, beloved grandchildren, Shawn and Bryan Rose, Stacey Leonard, Matthew Wylie, Ryan and Ashley Sharpe, and Daniel, Elizabeth and Paul Steenwyk, a precious great grandson, Brett Leonard, and his close sisters, Myrtle Prewitt of Monroe, Marie (Luther) Prewitt of Allen Park, Ivy Lou Harris of Newport, and Irene Hinkle of Corbin, KY. Sadly, his parents and 2 brothers, Lawrence and Onza Rose, preceded him in death. Friends may call on Wednesday, at the Bacarella Funeral Home, from 12 PM until funeral services celebrating his life at 3 PM. The Rev. Ronald Schultz of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Memorial gifts in his name may be given to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
