Anthony H. Notario, 88 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 22, 2024.
Born July 12, 1935 in Monroe, Tony was the son of the late Ernest and Nora K. (Willett) Notario. He was a 1953 graduate of Monroe High School. Tony went on to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toledo. He also attended Monroe County Community College throughout his career.
On September 15, 1956, Tony married his beloved wife, the former Janice M. Jackson, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe.
Tony was part owner and a Mechanical Engineer at Frederick and Company Conveyors in Monroe for 40 plus years. He then went to work as the Engineering Manager at Monroe Environmental where he worked for over 20 years. He retired in 2008.
Tony was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe where he volunteered for various tasks around the church and school. Tony enjoyed yard work, especially gardening, running, playing paddle ball, trips to Las Vegas, watching Michigan Wolverine Football, the Detroit Lions, and The Detroit Tigers. Most of all Tony enjoyed time spent with family.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Janice, four loving children: Beverly (Granville) Rose of LaSalle, Matthew (Kelly) Notario of Monroe, Andrew Notario (Darby Kolano) of Monroe, and Anthony (Courtenay) Notario of Ann Arbor, 15 cherished grandchildren: Jared, Granville II, Joshua, Courtney, Nicholas, Lauren, Taylor, Benjamin, Alexandra, Jacob, Andrew, Abigail, Elizabeth, Helena, and Haydn, 30 treasured great grandchildren and three siblings: Alan (Janet) Notario of Monroe, Margaret Nation of Maryland, and David (Anne) Notario of Texas.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by a son, Michael Anthony Notario and three sisters: Mildred Lindsey, Ann Marie Hall, and Sharon Saunders.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 – 7 pm at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161. On Wednesday, March 27, 2024 he will lie in state at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church at 10:00 am with Mass of the Resurrection celebrating his life at 11:00 am. Fr. Kishore Battu, pastor of the church, will be the celebrant and Deacon Mike Stewart will be the homilist.
