Anthony W. "Andy" Turner, 68 years, of Newport, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Beaumont Hospital in Trenton, Michigan.
Born December 16, 1949 in Ansted, West Virginia, Andy was the son of the late Edward F. and Verna M. (Johnson) Turner.
Andy served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Army from August 6, 1969 to August 5, 1971. Andy served in Vietnam and was awarded the following: The Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He also received his GED from the Army.
On June 30, 1973 Andy married his beloved wife, the former Darlene M. Zurlinden, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe. Sadly, she preceded him in death on February 9, 2005 after 31 years of marriage.
Andy worked as a utility pipeliner for Buckeye Partners for 35 years. He retired in 2008.
Andy will be remembered as a simple man who worked hard and loved his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving daughter and son in law; Debra M. and S. Michael Turner – Petty of Monroe and two treasured grandsons Collin and Andrew Petty. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers: George, William, and Harold Turner.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 1-7 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161. A private family service and burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
