Anna Mae Wehner, age 92 of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024 in her home. She had been in declining health for the past three weeks.
Born July 19, 1932 in Azalia, MI, Anna was the 10th child born to the late John and Matilda (Steinbrecher) Rise. She graduated from Milan High School in 1949 where she was active in the school band, choir, and the Future Homemakers of America Club.
Anna married Alvin L. Wehner on October 28, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee, MI. They joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe and raised three children. They were married for 57 years before his passing in 2007.
Anna was employed by Monroe Public Schools for 30 plus years in the food service department, retiring as Assistant Head Cook in 2012.
Anna was an energetic and outgoing lady who loved spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, and visiting casinos. In her quieter moments she enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and baking.
Anna is survived by her children, David (Debbie) Wehner, Thomas Wehner, and Judy Ann Wehner, all of Monroe; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren with another soon to arrive.
In addition to her parents, Anna is preceded in death by 6 brothers: Alexander, Carl, Robert, John, Lester, and Joseph Rise; 3 sisters: Irene Salenbien, Lucille Gasidlo, and Loretta Rise.
Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Anna will lie in state Monday at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church where services will be held at 11 a.m. Visitation Pastor, Rev. Dennis C. Mann will officiate followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Her children would also like to add Elara Caring Hospice to this list for the wonderful care given to their mom during her recent illness.
