Anna Cacioppo, age 96, of Monroe, MI passed away, Monday, May 5, 2008 at 6:25 AM in The Lutheran Home surrounded by her loving family. Anna had been in poor health since October of 2007 and in the Lutheran Home since February 7 of this year. Anna was born August 12, 1911 in Carini, Sicily, Italy the daughter of the late Pete and Caterina (Pizzitola) Passalacqua. On September 1, 1929 Anna married Jack C. Cacioppo in Carini. Sadly he preceded her in death on May 3, 1990. In October of 1929, Anna and Jack moved to Monroe and joined St. Joseph Catholic Church of which she remained a member until she passed away. A homemaker Anna enjoyed her family, sewing, crocheting, knitting, baking, cooking and playing Bingo. Anna is survived by her beloved children; John Cacioppo of Monroe, Anna C. Armetta of Monroe, Katherine M. (Tina) (Joseph) Taormina of Monroe and Mary T. (Herbert) Grassley of LaSalle. 15 cherished grandchildren, 26 treasured great grandchildren and 14 treasured great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Anna was preceded in death by an infant daughter, 1 brother, 1 sister and her son in law Salvatore Armetta. Visitation will be held on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-9 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home where a Rosary Service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 PM. On Friday, May 9, 2008 prayers will be held at the funeral home at 10:15 AM followed by a Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Fr. William Fisher pastor of St. Joseph Church will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
