Ann V. Wilson, age 88, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, June 23. 2024 in her home under the care of hospice.
Ann was born March 12, 1936 in Mullins, South Carolina. She was the daughter of James Ervin and Lizzie Belle (Rogers) Floyd. She was a 1953 graduate of Nichols High School in Nichols, SC. Ann was a member of Monroe Faith United Methodist Church.
Ann proudly served her country in the US Air Force from October 13, 1953 to February 2, 1955. While both were serving in the Air Force she met the love of her life, Harold W. "Sonny" Wilson, they were married 10 days later on April 30, 1954 in Urbana, Illinois. Sadly, after more than 61 years together, Sonny preceded her in death on December 10, 2015.
She and Sonny moved to Monroe in 1967 because of his military service.
Ann worked for Jan and Steve Linsenmeyer for 33 years before her retirement.
Ann enjoyed basket weaving, flower gardening and most of all she loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by three children, Thomas W. Wilson of Monroe, Beth Ann Wilson of LaSalle and Tina L. Wilson-Conte (Fred Conte) of Monroe; five grandchildren, Lee A. Wilson IV, Anna B. Wilson, Thomas S. Wilson, Daniel M. (Ashleigh) Vuich, III and Jennifer (Sam) Applegate; six great grandchildren, Andrew, Jackson, Gunner, Dominick, Hudson and Madelyn.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Lee Wilson III; two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 from 12 noon until services at 2 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48181. Pastor Wendi Lenard will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
