Angela M. Grippi, age 48, of Monroe, MI passed away Friday, April 3, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. Angela had been in poor health since November. Angela was born August 18, 1960 in Borgetto, Sicily the daughter of Giacomo "Jack" and Lucia (Arcabascio) Furnari. On March 7, 1970 the family moved to Monroe from Sicily. Angela attended St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Grade School and was a 1980 graduate of St. Mary's Academy. She also attended Monroe County Community College. On July 26, 1980 at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church Angela married her beloved husband Salvatore "Sam" Grippi. A homemaker Angela along with her husband Sam also owned and operated Angela's Pizzeria in Monroe. Angela was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Angela enjoyed cooking for, taking care of and spending time with her family. Angela is survived by her mother Lucia of Monroe, her beloved husband Sam, 3 loving children; Mary L. Grippi of Los Angeles, CA, Joseph S. Grippi and Jack A. Grippi both of Monroe, a treasured grandson Alex Grippi and 2 caring brothers Frank (Paula) Furnari of Alma, MI and Vito (Amy) Furnari of Surfside Beach, SC. Sadly she was preceded in death by her father Jack on November 20, 2008. Visitation will be held on Monday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe, where Sister Dorothy Krupp will officiate a Scripture Service at 4:00 PM. On Tuesday, April 7, 2009 Angela will lie in state at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until a Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 10:00 AM. Fr. Stephen Vileo pastor of the church will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe.
