Andrew H. Fleszar passed into his eternal glory on Friday, May 22, 2015 in his home.
Born November 7, 1926, in Standish, Michigan, he was the youngest of eleven children born to John and Amelia (Wolak) Fleszar. He was married to Katherine (Nixon) Holcomb and later married Brenda Shopshire on July 22, 1995 in Dundee, MI.
An Army Air Force Veteran of World War II, Andy served on Adak in the Aleution Islands with the 23rd Air Service Group.
Always a talented carpenter, he owned and operated, Contemporary Siding Applications from 1958 to 1970. He continued his talent for building and fixing for the rest of his life.
Andrew was a graduate of the Detroit Bible Institute and The Billy Graham School of Evangelism. He was ordained in 1975 at Bethany Baptist Church in Monroe.
He had served as Pastor at Bethany Baptist Church from 1965 to 1991. He also served as Director for Monroe Youth For Christ from 1958 to 1965 in addition to two terms on the Home Missions Board of the Michigan Baptist General Conference. He did mission work in Mexico, and in Barbados. He also served as interim Pastor at Main Street Baptist Church, Harbor Springs, MI, for five months in 1991.
Andrew was an avid reader and enjoyed word games such as Scrabble as well as crossword puzzles.
He was a sweet and gentle man who will be missed by many.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda, of Dundee; four daughters, Kathie (Tom) Thorn, Charlotte (Rick) Peer, Debb (George) Kiehler, and Amy Maus; one son, Mark (Kim) Fleszar, and thirteen grandchildren; one brother, Chester (Theresa) of Onsted. He was proceeded in death by his parents, six brothers: Raymond Fleszar, Charles Fleszar, Bruno Fleszar, Stanley Fleszar, Anthony Fleszar, Joseph Fleszar; three sisters: Rose Fleszar, Helen Dandron, and Bernice Bies.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161 where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Don Brown, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Dundee will officiate. In keeping with Andy's wishes cremation will follow funeral services.
