Alma E. "Bunny" Janus, 80 years, of Monroe, MI passed away, Saturday, July 4, 2009 at 7:25 AM in Mercy Memorial Nursing Care Center. Alma had been in declining health for the past 3 months. Alma was born March 31, 1929 in Detroit, MI the daughter of the late Lynn T. and Edith (Greer - Bishop) Sparling. Alma was a 1947 graduate of Cooley High School in Detroit. On January 15, 1947 in Detroit, MI Alma married Boselaw William Janus. Sadly he preceded her in death in 1966. The couple moved to the Monroe area in 1952. A homemaker, Alma also worked at Home, Inc. for 5 years, Harbor Light, Monroe County Library System, Edward's Brother's, and the Neighborhood Inn. Alma was a very caring and loving person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Alma is survived by 4 loving children; David (Cynthia) Janus of Maybee, MI, Nancy Lynch of Centralia, IL, Kathleen A. (Charles) Prater of Monroe and Mary Ann (John) Loop of Monroe, a daughter in law Denise Janus, 12 cherished grandchildren, 15 treasured great grandchildren and 2 precious great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents Alma was preceded in death by her son Daniel on May 15, 2009 and 3 grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating Alma's life will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 1:00 PM. In keeping with Alma's wishes cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
