Allan James Rothman, 85 years, of Onsted, Michigan, formerly of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital in Jackson, Michigan.
Born October 16, 1940, in Monroe, Al was the son of the late Harry L. and Della E. (Fruchey) Rothman. He attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1958 graduate of Monroe High School.
On March 19, 1961, Al married the love of his life, the former Susan C. Ellerman, at Zion Lutheran Church in Monroe.
Al worked as a draftsman and checker for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn for 30 years. He retired in 1996.
Al was a former member of the Moose Lodge #884 in Monroe and Lenawee Golf and Country Club. Al was an excellent bowler and won many tournaments and trophies. He enjoyed playing golf, gardening, cooking, and making jams. He also enjoyed fishing and making his own lures. He and Susan built their dream house on Loch Erin so that he could golf in the morning and fish in the afternoon and the next day fish in the morning and golf in the afternoon. He was also a jack of all trades and loved to tinker with different projects. He truly enjoyed his retirement and loved time spent with family.
Al is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Susan, two loving children: Loretta E. (James) Dunham of Plymouth, MI and Daniel Allan Rothman of Wyandotte, MI, and three siblings: Colette Carollo of Monroe, LaVerne (Ann) Rothman of Monroe and Diane Major of Marshall, MI.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his brother Donald.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, beginning at 12:00 noon at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph, Monroe, Michigan where funeral services celebrating Al's life will start at 2:00 pm that afternoon. Rev. Philip C. Wylie will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
