Alice M. Rothenberger, age 81 of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Medilodge of Monroe.
Born February 12, 1941 in Monroe, Alice was the daughter of the late Richard and Belma (Finney) Vanisacker. She attended Christiancy Elementary School, graduated from Monroe High School in 1959, and earned an Associate of Science Degree from Cleary College in Ypsilanti, MI.
In August of 1962, Alice married William H. Rothenberger at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2009.
Alice had a daily ritual. She, and a handful of neighborhood ladies known as "The Walkers" walked 4 miles in an hours time for almost 20 years.
Alice is survived by two children, Karen (David) Eddy of Rocky River, OH and William (Susan) Rothenberger of Fort Wayne, IN; four grandchildren: Daniel Eddy, Madison Rothenberger, Abbie (Denver Rudd) Rothenberger, and Charlotte Eddy; sister-in-law, Kay Vanisacker of Monroe; many nieces, nephews, and cousins including niece, Julie Vanisacker of Monroe and cousin Sally Knitter of Ida, MI.
In addition to her parents and husband Bill, Alice was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Robert Vanisacker, and two sisters, Beverly Osborne and infant Karen Vanisacker.
In accordance with Alice's wishes, she was entombed Friday at Roselawn Memorial Park with a brief service attended by family and a few close friends.
