Alice F. Beckham, age 76 of Temperance, passed peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Toledo Hospital.
Alice was born on June 7, 1947 in Monroe to Willmer E. and Lois L. (McCarty) Bowman. She attended Jefferson School District and earned an associate degree from Monroe County Community College. She was married to H. Stanley (Noma) Mullins from 1963-1965, with whom she had a daughter, Tammi. She was later re-married from 1972-1990, to Michael J.
(Deb) Beckham. Together they had two sons, Michael, and Matthew Beckham.
Alice was employed for 20+ years in retail sales at the former
Rink's Bargain City in Monroe, and another 20 years at SimplexGrinnell before retiring. She loved working around people and was a friend to so many.
Growing up with parents who lived through the great depression, Alice had a strong appreciation for a good deal. She was an avid shopper and found good deals wherever she went.
She was well known for hosting garage sales, where shoppers could find bargains of their own. In spite of her thrifty spending habits, her true heart of gold would shine through in her generosity whenever she ran across someone in need. Alice was a regular at vendor/craft shows as a jewelry vendor, and was so proud of her great granddaughter, Hailey who had begun her own line of hot-selling handcrafted items.
A typical routine for Alice would include long walks with her beloved dog Lilly, and a trip to Costco, while tirelessly working on her never ending "to do" list. She was blessed with an amazing core group of friends, and loved their company when traveling, having lunch, or playing cards.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Tammi (Paul) Van Aken of Monroe; son, Matthew (Tianna) Beckham of Jacksonville, FL; step-daughter, Kelly Beckham of Toledo, OH; sister, Judy Amerman of Monroe; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one nephew.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael W.
Beckham; and step-daughter, Karen (Brian) Davis.
Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16th at Bacarella Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Rev. Scott Matta, Family Life Pastor at Compelled Church where she was a member, will officiate followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
