Alan Norman Blanchett, 61 years, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital with immediate family at his side after a courageous 14 month battle with kidney cancer.

Born August 19, 1964, in Monroe, Alan was the son of Norman J. and Loretta T. (Kardys) Blanchett. Alan was baptized at St. Charles Boromeo Catholic Church in Newport and confirmed at St. Mary Catholic Church in Monroe. Alan attended the Hall of the Divine Child elementary school and was a 1982 graduate of Monroe Catholic Central High School. While in high school, Alan lettered in track and cross country. He went on to attend the Detroit Carpenters Apprenticeship Trade School.

On April 24, 1993, Alan married his beloved wife Sarah A. Stalder, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania, OH.

Alan began his career working for several construction companies then went to work for Barton Malow Co 28 years ago as a carpenter where he earned the nickname “The Whizz” because he always had a solution to any problem and the nickname stuck for his entire career. He worked his way up the ladder and was currently serving as Vice President of Project Delivery working out of the Southfield, MI headquarters. His dedicated leadership helped the company with some of it’s most complex automotive projects including traveling to various GM projects in Mexico, Arlington Texas, Spring Hill Tennessee, Lordstown Ohio, New Carlisle Indiana and of course Michigan. These were projects that demanded detail, patience and trust and helped strengthen Barton Malow’s position as a leader in the automotive market. He was well respected throughout the construction industry by his peers and clients establishing relationships built on trust, commitment and dedication.

Alan was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Monroe Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, boating and his jet ski he bought for his grandchildren pulling them tubing for endless hours. He took meticulous care of his yard, often referring to his lawn as looking like Comerica Park. Most of all Alan loved time spent with family and enjoyed hosting many gatherings where he was dubbed the “grill master”. His generosity was endless and he was the ultimate caretaker both with his time and talents.

Alan is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Sarah; his caring parents, Norman and Loretta Blanchett of Newport; three loving children, Jeffrey A. (Heather) Blanchett, Ashley N. (Ben) Hansen and Alex J. (Heather Sosnoski) Blanchett; three cherished grandchildren, Adrianna and Abriella Blanchett and Mia Hansen; and three siblings, Paul E. (Kari) Blanchett, Vicki A. Milosch, and Valerie M. (Sue Burbank) Blanchett; numerous nephews and nieces to whom he was Godfather to the majority.

Alan was proceeded in death by his brother-in-law Rob Milosch.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161, beginning 1:00 pm until 7 pm. The Rosary, led by Fr. Melvin Blanchette, Alan’s uncle, will be recited at 6:00 pm. On Monday, August 3, 2026, he will lie in state at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 127 North Monroe,

St. Monroe, Michigan, 48162 where Mass of the Resurrection celebrating Alan’s life will begin at 11:00 am. with Fr. Melvin Blanchette and Fr Mike Anagbogu concelebrating.

Private interment will be held later that day at St. Charles Cemetery in Newport.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, SMCC High School or St. Mary Catholic Church.
