Victoria Julia Johnson "Vickie", 66 of Monroe, MI, was peacefully called home on January 5th at 4:44 p.m. after a fiercely fought battle with Cancer. Victoria was born on May 13th to the late George and Eleanor (Vargo) Barath in Monroe, MI. Victoria worked as a lounge manager for Nortel Lanes for over 20 years where she went on to meet the love of her life. In 1978 Victoria met Melvin A. Johnson and they wed in 1983, going on to raise daughter Heather (Perry) Schwemmin and later surround herself with her granddaughters Julia Schwemmin and Sophia Schwemmin. Victoria was passionate about festive gatherings with her beloved friends and family and when she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found in her flower garden. Since early childhood Victoria loved visiting northern Michigan with her family, as she found it nostalgic as well as relaxing. Victoria was also very proud of her Hungarian heritage and loved to share the culture. She was truly one of a kind and we will miss her greatly. Victoria was preceded in death by her parents George and Eleanor (Vargo) Barath, brothers Michael Barath and Steven Barath, nephew Ryan Barath. Harold (Jessie) Johnson, David Benore, Alvin and Theresa (VanWasshnova) Johnson. Victoria is survived by husband Melvin A. Johnson, daughter Heather (Perry) Schwemmin, granddaughters Julia Schwemmin and Sophia Schwemmin, nieces and nephews, George ( Sharon) Barath , Mary (Pete) Pilat , Georgia Barath, Lydia (Mark) Milich, Norm ( Cathy) Johnson, Sharon ( David) Benore , Joyce Maddux , Martha (Dick) Leonard, Lucille Miller, Kenny (Donna) Burk, Mary Sulfaro, Pete Pilat, Brandy (Brodi) Davis, Jason (Jackie) Barath, Lisa (Scott) Puse , David (Meghan) Benore, Jessica Agusta, Stephanie Barath, Nick Barath, Brad (Tausha) Johnson, Michelle ( Evan) Coyne, Nick Leonard, Sarah Miller, Brianna Miller, Bradley Miller, Tiffany (Daniel) Clark, Eric (Kaylee) Torrance, Sarah Maddux, and many more beloved great nieces and nephews. Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28th at Bacarella Funeral Home where a memorial celebration of Vickie’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Rev. Spencer Snow, Associate Pastor at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Arbor Hospice Division or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
