Born on February 21, 1935 in Monroe, Tom was the son of the late Walter and Mildred (Nolan) Guthrie. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1954 and married Darla J. Tom enjoyed woodworking, deer hunting, camping, trap shooting, and spending time up north at his cabin, “Camp Wha-Who II” in Harrison. Tom was a life member and Past-President of the Monroe County Rod and Gun Club, member and past District II Chairman of Michigan United Conservation Club, Moose Lodge 2235 in Harrison, and Monroe Council 1266 Knights of Columbus. Above all of these interests, caring for his family meant the most. In addition to his parents, Tom was also preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Thomas, a brother, Robert Guthrie, grandson, Brock Eckert, and his mother-in-law, Kathryn Aldridge. Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bacarella Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Mark Raitz will officiate followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. The Guthrie family would like to thank Hospice of Michigan, especially Dr. Tom O’Neil, nurse Anna Germain, and social worker Christine Woloszyk. For their kindness, care and compassion, the family is requesting memorial donations be made to Hospice of Michigan in lieu of flowers.
