Suzanne Marie "Sue" McIntyre Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Suzanne “Sue” Marie McIntyre of Monroe, Michigan passed away peacefully on July 31, 2022, at the age of 85. Sue was born March 26, 1937, in St. Michael’s Ridge, OH to the late Frank and Clara (Minck) Lenhart. She was the eighth of twelve children. Sue was proceeded in death by her beloved husband William “Bill” McIntyre Jr., her parents, and her siblings: Francis, Elizabeth, June, Richard, Benedict and Nancy. She is survived by her children Michael (Paula) McIntyre of Cedar, MI, Molly (Eric) Romano of Webster Grove, MO, Frank McIntyre of Ann Arbor, MI, and Annie (Dominic) Treglia of Chelsea, MI, six cherished grandchildren: Ben (McIntyre); Gabriella, Christian and Alexandria (Romano); and Isabella and Arianna (Treglia), her sisters Rita, Patricia, Joan, Peggy and Mary Carol. She attended St. Michael’s grade school and Jewell High School. In her school years Sue participated in field hockey, played the drums in the school band, was in numerous school plays, loved to sing and was talented in sewing. She went on to earn her nursing registration from Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo, OH in 1958. She worked as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. During this time, she met the love of her life, Bill McIntyre. They married on May 4, 1963, at the Rosary Cathedral in Toledo, OH. They had four children: Mike, Molly, Frank, and Annie. With Bill’s job at Monroe Auto Equipment Company, they traveled the world extensively visiting Europe, Latin America, the Far East and Australia as Bill expanded MAECO into those countries. This included several years living in Switzerland and Belgium with Mike and Molly in tow. When back in Monroe Sue enjoyed Garden Club, playing lots of tennis, participated as Eucharistic Minister and Lecturer at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and she volunteered at the Monroe Thrift Store. Sue and Bill were patrons of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and supported it through charitable endeavors. Sue was involved with YPO and Legatus with her husband and was on the Board of Regents for Ave Maria University. Bill and Sue were married for 54 years before Bill’s death in 2017. Bill was Sue’s absolute treasure in life, her kids were her joy, and her grandkids were blessings. The most important part of Sue’s life was faith and family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend who will be missed greatly by all. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161. She will lie in state at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 511 S. Monroe St, in Monroe on Saturday, August 6 at 10:00 a.m. until a Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Mary Catholic Central High School Scholarship fund, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, or Towsley Village Memory Care in Chelsea Michigan via the UMRC & Porter Hills Foundation. Please note that Sue was never a big fan of wearing black to a funeral; if you are attending the viewing or Sue’s funeral, please feel free to wear pink, red or any color that brings you joy!
