Stella M. Lopez, age 79, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 surrounded by her family, under the care of Michigan Hospice. She was born July 14, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas to Roberto and Antonia (Alcoser) Martinez. She married Joe H. Lopez July 23, 1960 in Somerset, Texas; sadly, he preceded her in death in March 1972. Stella and her husband, Joe, moved to Monroe in 1962. She was a member of Monroe Center for Healthy Aging. She worked as a private home care giver, MCOP and retired from the Lutheran Home in 2010 with 25 years of employment. Stella loved spending time with her children and attending all the events of her grandchildren. Her shining light was her great granddaughter who adored her “Great Gram Stella”. She also enjoyed, sewing, crafting, playing cards, cooking and gardening. She is survived by her four children, Joe A. (Susan) Lopez of Ida, Katherine A. (David) Vensel of Monroe, Elaine (Michael Young) Sulfaro of Monroe and Robert (Ann Marie) Lopez of Tucson, Arizona; five grandchildren, Cameron Sulfaro, Kelsey Vensel, Alex Sulfaro, Ciera (Ryan) Clapp and Kara Vensel; great granddaughter, Cecilia Sulfaro; brother, Roberto (Becky) Martinez of Somerset, Texas; two sisters, Consuelo Martinez of Beverly, Massachusetts and Eva Martinez of Somerset, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Mike Mushalla; two sisters, Olga Lucero and Virginia Lex. With the current Covid-19 restrictions all visitation and services will be private. Deacon Michael Stewart will officiate services. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Monroe Center for Healthy Aging or MCOP Food Closet.
