Shirley J. Boos

March 8, 1934 - April 13, 2022

Shirley J. Boos, 88 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. Born March 8, 1934 in Monroe, Shirley was the daughter of the late Charles and Pearl J. (Libstaff) Myland. Shirley attended school in Monroe and was a 1951 graduate of Monroe High School. On July 2, 1955 Shirley married the love of her life, Frank H. Boos, at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe. Sadly, Frank preceded her in death on October 22, 2005 after 50 years of marriage. Shirley worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for two years. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Martin’s Shoe House in Monroe for 37 years, from which she retired in September of 2004. Shirley was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe, where she was confirmed, volunteered for church functions, taught Sunday School for 10 years, and served as the Vice President of the PTL. Shirley enjoyed volunteering at The Lutheran Home, bowling, playing cards, and reading. Most of all Shirley enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Shirley is survived by two loving daughters: Kathleen Ann Cox of Livingston, TX and Mary Ann (Gary) Steffes of Sterling Heights, MI, eight cherished grandchildren, three treasured great grandchildren, and a stepbrother, Gerald (Fran) Hage of Coldwater, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 11:00 am, at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161, where funeral services celebrating Shirley’s life will begin at 1:00 pm. Rev. Dennis Mann, of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are suggested to Wellspring Lutheran Services.
