Marjorie O. Vensel

Marjorie O. Vensel, 95 years, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital in Monroe. Born October 14, 1923 in Pomeroy, Ohio, Marge was the daughter of the late Herman and Hazel (Torrence) Clark. The family moved to Monroe in the 1930’s and Marge was a 1942 graduate of Monroe High School. On August 3, 1957, Marge married her beloved husband Paul Vensel in Monroe, Michigan. Sadly, he preceded her in death on November 2, 2017 after 60 years of Marriage. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, spouse, mother, grandmother and caring for her family, Marge also worked as a teller at both Monroe Bank and Trust and First National Bank. Marge was a long time member of The First Presbyterian Church in Monroe where she served as a Deacon and sang in the choir. A certified bridge instructor, Marge enjoyed playing and teaching the game of bridge. She taught bridge through the Monroe Public Schools Community Education Program. She taught hundreds of individuals and was still teaching at the age of 90. She was a former member of the Monroe Golf and Country Club and the YMCA. Her other interests included: playing tennis, traveling, playing golf and reading. Nothing gave Marge more joy then spending time with her family, especially her two granddaughters. Marge is survived by two loving children; David P. (Katherine A.) Vensel of Monroe and James R. Vensel of Sarasota, FL, two cherished grandchildren; Kelsey M. (John Ackerman) Vensel of Los Angeles, CA and Kara C. Vensel of Chicago, IL, and a brother; David (Jane) Clark of Grosse Pointe, MI. In addition to her husband and parents, Marge was preceded in death by a sister Violet Chesney. Visitation will be held on Friday from 3-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161 where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Annemarie S. Kidder, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are suggested to Promedica Hospice, Monroe Family YMCA Annual Campaign, or the Arthur Lesow Community Center.
