Lester Cosby

October 15, 1940 - February 24, 2022

Lester Cosby, age 81, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor. Lester was born October 15, 1940 in Claiborne County, Tennessee. He was the son of Maynard and Waite (Ellison) Cosby. He married Barbara J. LaBeau December 27, 1958. They spent 56 wonderful years together before she passed away February 16, 2015. He served in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge on September 19, 1961. Lester was employed at GM Hydromatic Plant in Toledo for 32 years, retiring in 1992. He was one of the founding members of the Breast Bay Gun Club and was still an active member. He enjoyed going up north, hunting, fishing, traveling and most of all spending time with his family. Lester is survived by his two children, Mark R. (Deb) Cosby of Bronson, MI and Cheryl A. (Rick) Loveday of Monroe; six grandchildren, Lesa (Aldo) Perna, Mark (Rachel) Cosby, Katie Loveday, Miranda (Jeff) Harvey, Holly (Jory) Loveday and Matthew (Faith) Cosby and eleven great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings; Arzella Davidson, Onalee Webb, Thurman Cosby and Bronite Yoas. Visitation will be Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Sr. Elaine Aldridge will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, with military honors by V.F.W Post 1138, Monroe. Memorial contributions to Disabled American Veterans.
