Larry M. Kinsey

Larry M. Kinsey, 81 years old, of Monroe, Michigan, after a short illness passed away peacefully with his wife and children at his side at St. Joseph Hospital, Ann Arbor on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. Born January 6, 1941 in Monroe, Larry was the son of the late Maynard W. and Helen E. (Rathke) Kinsey. Larry was a 1959 Monroe High School graduate where he was in the band. He furthered his education and received his degree in Industrial Education from the University of Toledo in 1963. On September 2, 1961 Larry married his beloved wife, the former Karon A. Morrin, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie, MI. Larry was a Master Electrician and worked at Toledo Scale for 25 years. In the 1980’s Larry started his own company, L.M. Kinsey Electric. He was currently the electrical inspector for both Monroe Charter Township and LaSalle Township. Larry was a man of faith and a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church for more than 50 years. He was also a member of Monroe Club, a 30 year Volunteer Fireman For Monroe Charter Township Fire Department, and a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. He also sat on the Monroe County Drain Commission Board of Determination. He enjoyed traveling, boating, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, hunting, fishing, working out at the Monroe YMCA, and gardening. Larry was a “Mr. Fix It” able to fix anything! His most notable hobby was restoring his 1956 Chris-Craft boat. Larry never met a stranger and was a friend to all. Above all, Larry loved his family and spending his time with them. Larry is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Karon, three loving children; Barry C. Kinsey of Monroe, Krystin K. Weeks (the late James Weeks) of Plymouth and Brandon C. (Julie) Kinsey of Dundee, nine cherished grandchildren; Chloe, Sam, Nick, Madeline (Samuel) MaryMargaret, Meredith, MacKenzie, Carson, and Nora, and two sisters; Linda Riley of Erie, and Sharon Welton of Ludington, MI. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son in-law, James Weeks, and brother, Garry Kinsey. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 – 8 pm at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm. On Thursday, September 1, 2022 he will lie instate at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 am followed by Mass of the Resurrection celebrating his life at 11:00 am. Fr. David Burgard will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Erie, MI. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or Saint Mary Catholic Central High School.
