James R. Hoffman

January 28, 1943 - February 7, 2022

James R. Hoffman, 79 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the home of his son and daughter in law. Born January 28, 1943 in Monroe, Jim was the son of the late Russell J. and Beulah Marie (Jones) Hoffman. Jim was baptized, confirmed and attended elementary school at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish. He went on to attend Monroe High School. On July 1, 1961 Jim married his beloved wife, the former Shirley M. Morris, at St. Michael’s. Sadly, she preceded him in death on February 23, 2003, after 41 years of marriage. Jim owned J & L Upholstering in Monroe from 1996 until his retirement in 2016. Prior to owning J & L he worked for Hoffman Brothers Furniture and Auto Repair. Jim completely reupholstered his first automobile at the age of 13. Jim was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish. Jim enjoyed his work and loved time spent with family. Jim is survived by his loving son and daughter in law, Mark J. and Bonita Hoffman of Monroe, two cherished grandchildren, Ryan and Erin Hoffman, and two brothers, Larry Hoffman of Monroe, and David Hoffman of Hendersonville, NC. In addition to his wife and parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son, Dean, a granddaughter, Courtney, and a sister, Lela. In keeping with Jim’s wishes there will be no visitation or services and he will be interred next to his wife at Roselawn Memorial Park. Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S.
