Jacob "Jake" Matthew Roberts

June 15, 1989 - October 12, 2020

Jacob “Jake” Matthew Roberts, age 31, of Lansing, Michigan, formerly of Monroe, passed away at 5:36 a.m. at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital after experiencing cardiac issues for the past few weeks. Born June 15, 1989 in Trenton, Michigan, he is the son of Richard Allan Roberts Senior and Cathy Sue Crawford. Jake attended Anderson High School in Anderson County, Tennessee, graduating with the class of 2007. Jake enjoyed moving around the country where he worked in several professions, primarily as a waiter in the local restaurants. Most recently he worked for his brother, Richard Junior, at Two Rivers Tree Service. He married his beloved wife, Lyra-Akina, on October 4, 2020 at Shekinah International in Lansing. Jake will forever be remembered as being a kind-hearted jokester. He was generous and giving, even to those he had just met. Jake was very family oriented and would stop what he was doing at any given moment to be there for his loved ones; he always put others before himself. As a young man, he cherished time spent with his brother riding bikes and hanging out. Jake enjoyed training in MMA, fishing and spending time on the water. To cherish his memory, Jake leaves his wife, Lyra-Akina, of Lansing; his parents, Richard and Cathy; three children: Jalin Cutright, Leilani Cutright and Karyngton Murphy; grandparents, Ruth Seiber and Sue Headley; five siblings: Cassey Brooks of Michigan, Joseph Thomas of Tennessee, Richard Allan (Shawna) Roberts Junior of Portland, Michigan, Brandon (Calie) Roberts of Monroe, Michigan, and Emma Crawford of Ohio; one sister-in-law, Khalia Cummings of Lansing; and Seven nieces and nephews: Kayla, Trinity, Tristan, Brandon Junior, Cohen, Andy II, and Hanna. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roy Seiber. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2020, and from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2020, at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Road, Monroe, MI, 48161. Services celebrating his life will be held Monday, October 19, 2020, at 1 p.m. also at Bacarella Funeral Home. Rev. Stephanie Butler, Pastor of Shekhinah International will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Memorial contributions in Jake’s memory are suggested to the family.
