Irvin W. "Wally" Lynch Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Irvin Wallace “Wally” Lynch, age 76 of LaSalle, passed away Monday morning, May 16, 2022 in his home surrounded by his wife and family. Born June 3, 1945 in Tazewell, TN, Wally was the son of the late Thea and Geneva (Goin) Lynch. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served 12 years, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant before being honorably discharged on July 8, 1973. In 1981, Wally began working at Fermi II Nuclear Power Plant during its development and then for Detroit Edison in 1989. He had many jobs during his employment there which included writing instrument and control procedures. He retired from his site group, Material Engineering and Support on February 28, 2006. Wally had a passion for music. He enjoyed listening to Blues, Classic Rock, and was a fan of Elvis music. As a D.J., he started Gator Productions as a hobby, never charging for his services, and hosted countless charitable fundraisers for Special Olympics, Friendly Ford’s “Hot August Nights” for Hospice of Monroe, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and many others. He enjoyed boating and fishing and was a member of the Monroe Boat Club and the North Cape Yacht Club. Wally also enjoyed mowing his lawn, attending auctions with his wife, and serving as Mayor for many years of the LaPlaisance Woods Outing Association. While hanging out with his friends at Kelly’s Bar many years ago, Wally met his future wife, Shan. When the time was right, he proposed to her at Kelly’s by presenting her with a T-shirt to wear which read “Will you marry me?” They were wed on September 12, 2003 in the backyard of their home in LaSalle. Wally is survived by his wife Shan; four children, Dan (Sarah) Lynch of Lambertville, Terri (Christ) Langerman of Monroe, Amy Walter of Monroe, and Chip (Keli) Jackson of Monroe; two brothers, Ron Lynch and Larry (Jo Anne) Lynch, both of Monroe, nine grandchildren: Courtney, Kyle, Allie, Whitleigh, Hunter, Marley, Olivia, Connor, and Jessie. In addition to his parents, Wally was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Hales. Cremation and funeral details have been arranged through Bacarella Funeral Home. Family and friends may visit from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 21st at the funeral home where a memorial celebration of Wally’s life will begin at 7 p.m. including military honors provided by Monroe VFW Post 1138. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends supporting the Michigan Parkinson’s Foundation.
