Geneva D. Castillo

Geneva D. Castillo, 83 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Fountainview of Monroe. Born May 17, 1937 in Monroe, Geneva was the daughter of the late Frances (Gay) Weiss. She attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1955 graduate of Monroe High School. In 1957 Geneva married William R. Minney. She later married Paul Castillo in April of 1999 at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe. Fr. Stephen Rooney performed the ceremony. Geneva was employed as a medical billing supervisor at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe for over 30 years. She retired in 2000. She also taught billing classes at Monroe County Community College. Geneva was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member and former treasurer of St. Vincent de Paul Society. Geneva enjoyed bus trips to and going to the casino and playing Bingo. Most of all Geneva enjoyed time spent with family. Geneva is survived by her beloved husband of 21 years, Paul, five loving children; William L. Minney of Monroe, Steven (Liane) Minney of Monroe, Michael (Dari) Minney of Petersburg, Denise A. Minney of Monroe, and Mark (Michelle) Minney of LaSalle, six step daughters; Rosann (Juan) Matteo, Debra (Kevin Ryder) Ontiveroz, Margarita Garcia, Sylvia (Andrew) Gesell, Diane (Stewart) Rydman and Judith (Kevin) Grove, 10 cherished grandchildren; Graham (Samantha), Jacob, Cameron (Nicole), Bailey, Shealyn, Shelby, Kevin (Katilyn), Kaitlyn (Jon), Hailey and Jordan, one treasured great grandson; Ashton and a sister in law; Kim Weiss. In addition to her mother; Geneva was preceded in death by two sisters; Patricia Hamilton and Barbara Antone and a brother Robert Weiss. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Due to the COVID19 Pandemic, all services and visitation will be private. Deacon Mike Stewart will officiate and entombment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe. Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan is assisting Geneva’s family with funeral arrangements.
